International Conference on

Design and Engineering of Lighter-Than-Air systems

(DELTAs - 2022)

22 - 26 June, 2022

About the Conference

Design and Engineering of Lighter-Than-Air Systems - 2022 (DELTAs-2022) is being organised to gather global experts in the field of LTA systems, and to discuss the current and future developments in this field. The multi-disciplinary problem related to design of LTA systems involves considerations of several engineering disciplines. DELTAs-2022 will provide an international forum for researchers, practising engineers, students, and scientists to disseminate their latest accomplishments in the field of LTA systems.

The event will also host several eminent academicians, scientists and scholars from all over the globe, who have spearheaded developments in LTA technology. A Technology Showcase will be conducted to enable industry professionals and software vendors to demonstrate the application and efficacy of their products. The conference will consist of invited talks, and presentations of contributed papers, culminating in panel discussions on issues relevant to the LTA industry. A pre-conference workshop will also be held for the benefit of students and young scholars. The second and third days will consist of invited talks, and presentations of contributed papers, culminating in panel discussions on issues relevant to the LTA industry. Final two days will be dedicated to a “hands-on” exposure to Airship Technology through a Model Airship Regatta Event. Specifics related to this event will be shared on the website soon.

About the LTA Systems Laboratory

The Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) systems laboratory was established in the year 2002 at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay. The laboratory has been involved in carrying out R&D projects related to design, analysis, fabrication and testing of LTA systems. As a part of its global outreach, the laboratory has been contributing towards the development of various LTA projects related to public, private as well as academic sectors.

The LTA research team led by Prof. Rajkumar S. Pant is spearheading the development of LTA technology in India. It aims to design and develop easily realizable and environmentally sustainable solutions for several niche applications such as aerial surveillance, last-mile communication, cargo transportation and planetary exploration.
