Building on the success of DELTAs 2022 and DELTAs 2024, the third edition of International Conference on Design and Engineering of Lighter-Than-Air systems (DELTAs 2027) brings together international researchers, practicing engineers, industry leaders, and students to discuss key advances in Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) systems and enabling technologies. The event features invited talks, peer-reviewed paper and poster presentations, technology showcases, and the Flameless Indoor Hot Air Balloon (FIHAB) competition. High-impact papers will be published in a post-conference proceedings volume. Additionally, DELTAs 2027 marks the official launch of the Journal of DELTAs.

Established in 2002 at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Bombay, the Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) Systems Laboratory has been actively involved in R&D projects covering the design, analysis, fabrication, and testing of LTA systems. Led by Prof. Rajkumar S. Pant, the LTA research team is spearheading LTA technology growth in India, contributing to public, private, and academic sectors globally. The laboratory aims to design environmentally sustainable solutions for niche applications such as aerial surveillance, last-mile communication, cargo transportation, and planetary exploration.
